Happy 60th Anniversary!

My grandparents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 24. Today, the whole family got together and celebrated the milestone. We wish that the Honeycutt crew could have made it out there to share in the festivities, but our thoughts sent lots of love their way today. I posted a few pictures on our photos page.

60th Wedding Anniversary

Shaving Cream

Spring seems to have forgotten about Spokane this year, so to keep the kids busy inside, JJ thought it would be fun to let them play in some shaving cream foam. They had so much fun and made such a mess!

More Pictures Added

I added some pictures of the kids to the Spring album. Some are recent and others are from our last Pennsylvania trip.

Happy Easter

We had a great Easter Sunday today. Ruthie and Sam woke up to a few candy treats then we got all dressed up to go to Easter brunch at our church followed by a special Easter service. JJ gave a five minute message during the church service that focused on the life and ministry of Jesus which he summed up using the beatitudes. He did a great job and I’m really proud of him. After church we took a little rest then headed over to Shay’s house for a yummy ham dinner. We had a nice time there then headed home. We had such a great day, but the best part of it was remembering the amazing gift that Jesus gave to us when “up from the grave He arose!”

Ruthie Gets Glasses

We found out the other day that our Ruthie girl is far-sighted. We actually noticed that her right eye has been crossing for the last couple weeks. The poor little thing now has to wear glasses full time. We are taking her to get her new “Special Princess Glasses” tomorrow and hope she will have little problems adjusting to the lifestyle change. I’ll post some pics of her in her new glasses soon.

Ruthie Prays

Isn’t Ruthie the best little prayer you’ve ever seen? Just adorable. I just learned that I can upload video from my Blackberry straight to Youtube! How awesome is that.

New Pictures

Ruthie got her hands on a marker and decided to “tattoo” herself. She drew tiger stripes up both her arms and drew a person on her belly. When I asked her who it was, she told me it was Aunt Jo Jo.

Sam loves listening to lots of different kinds of music. He recently discovered his dad’s MP3 player. Every time he finds it, he wants to listen to it. I took this picture of him listening to some hardcore.
Sam with Headphones

Tonight we had pizza for dinner. Sam chowed down two slices leaving quite a mess behind.

Pennsylvania Trip

Ruthie, Sam, and I were lucky enough to get to spend nearly three weeks in Pennsylvania this December. It was so nice spending the Christmas season there. We put together a slide show of some of our favorite pictures.

Today is JJ’s Birthday!

Although we already celebrated it on Saturday, JJ turns 29 today! Not only did JJ get to celebrate his birthday with cake and gifts, he also got to see the Seahawks win and the Steelers lose in the playoffs that day, so it was a pretty special day for him. Happy birthday, we love you!

Want a Blog?

do you want a blog

1: You need a domain (ie: ‘honeycuttfam.com) and hosting. I use DreamHost for all my blogs. I highly recommend them.

dreamhostPlus, since I am a member I have the option of giving discounts to all those I refer. If you type the promocode: JJLOVESYA you will get a free domain name for life AND $20 off your first year of hosting. I have hosted at other companies and Dream Host is the most reliable, easy to use, and great customer support. Also, the beauty of Dreamhost, you can add-on as many domains as you would like, unlimited MySQL (databases), and host multiple blogs or sites on the same account! I host seven sites on my account, so in essence you could go in with multiple people to cut your costs to very little.

If you can’t afford to pay for hosting, you can sign-up for a free Word Press Blog at www.wordpress.com. But understand you don’t have a custom domain/email and you are limited in your style/content/functionality. But heck, it’s free!

2. You must then Install your Wordpress on your host.

3. Get a custom Wordpress Blog designed by a pro.
FWDMy buddy Chad over at Frontier Web Design is an awesome blog designer. He has a lot of design education, experience with Wordpress, and creative genius. It’s not cheap to have a custom blog designed but if you have the dough, why not.

4. If you are broke like me, you can modify an existing theme.

That’s what I did to this blog and all the other blogs I author, manage, modify. You can surf the web and find many great looking Wordpress themes. You then download the theme files to your computer and edit the CSS and images to fit your liking.

5. For a reasonable fee I can help you with all the above.
I can get you set up with your host, get your WP installed, find you a nice theme, and do basic customizations to your theme’s CSS file and images. I can also help you get to know Wordpress.

*I can also do some family photography as well for your blog.

Happy Birthday Pappy

My grandpa’s birthday was last Sunday. He was born on Nov. 4, 1929, making him 78. Today, family got together to have a little celebration for him. We obviously didn’t make it there, but we were there in spirit. I have so many great memories of my grandpa. We used to color, play cards, read books, fish, go on road trips (one of my best childhood memories is a bus trip to Niagara Falls that I went on with my grandparents), and lots more when I was little. I’m grateful for the time that the kids and I get to spend with him now and I hope that when my little ones are grown up that they have their own fond memories of Pappy. Pappy Reading to Sammy

Poor Mouth

One of my favorite 16 Horsepower songs that I thought I would share. Buy the album.

[audio:http://www.springer45.com/music/poormouth.mp3]

Is anything as lovely to me
As the truth in love
Ill take it over freedom any day
It brings me ever an this time to my knees
An on my knees I run away

Yes I know your sticks and stones they
They will easily break these bones an
An all my words come back to haunt me
I will put my strength into
The things left standing
I am hoarse with wild eyes
No debts outstanding

My hands are yours my brother
You can take my coat as well
My eyes are yours sister
And my heart, and my heart
In which he dwells

Heard the voice of my master callin me
From deep in the hollow
Said that I must follow him there yeah
Is any place darker for me
With all them wolves about
Well its a poor mouth that I wear

My hands are yours my brother
You can take my coat as well
My eyes are yours sister
And my heart, and my heart
In which he dwells

Livin from hand to poor mouth
You an me an my secret south

That Time Again

Everyone knows that my favorite time of the year is Christmas time. I’m a jolly elf. But there’s another time of the year that I enjoy very much as well. It’s September. Septembers are without a doubt, are amazing time of the year. The heat of the summer is finally cooling off, and you have these amazing evenings where a cool breeze flows through your back yard. Septembers 2 is always a great day. Baseball is heading toward the final stretch. And the football season begin!

There’s nothing like gettin up on Sunday, heading down to church to worship God and fellowship with your friends, then heading home to catch the Seahawks game and eat some bbq. It’s all the ingredients for a perfect day. God bless Septembers! Go Seahawks!
